Princess Turned 30th, eh?

Last Saturday night, my real estate agent (Denise Sinkevicius) and I threw a birthday party for my wife Ellen. Ellen recently turned 30, and it was important to have a cool party to celebrate it -- however, Denise really wanted to throw us a house warming party as well since we never really celebrated moving into our new house. Anyway, we told Denise that we like having themed parties because they are much more fun than regular parties. While searching for a theme, we realized that Denise wasn't even American - She was Canadian, thus our theme was discovered. Denise drove up to Canada to pick up supplies, and I stopped by a few party shops in Seattle including Archie McPhee's. Oh, if you are wondering about the princess reference, that's a running joke with Ellen. We always tease her about acting like a princess, so we thought we needed to add that as well.

I draped the house with a flag, decorated the walls, and baked a cake which I adorned with moose, farmers, a skier and tiny tierras. Denise was nice enough to provide Canuck Cuisine and Beverages, plus random cheesy decorations. We even had Ryan bring down a bunch of Timmy Horton's to complete the Canadian theme.

Dressing for the part was important too. Ellen was in her princess outfit complete with "30 and Flirty" sash, and I rented a Royal Canadian Mounted Police uniform, which suprisingly looked good on me. Others dressed for the part as well, Peaboy and Dawn showed up as hockey fans (yes, its an American team, but hey -- it was close enough) and Ryan and Mel drove down from Vancouver to show us what the Canadian Navy does best. After drinking for a couple hours, it was time to cut the cake and take care of business. This was a special occasion, as Ellen turned the big Three-O. Special occasions call for special deeds, and in this case she was to get spanked 30 times by me and her friends. Muhahahaha!

At around 4am, it was time to say goodbye to everyone and finally get some sleep. This party was as good as last year's redneck party. Can't wait to have another party very soon!
