Happy Birthday Ella and Emma!
I'd like to welcome Ella Leaf Kowalczyk and Emma Joan Kowalczyk to the world. Both newborns are in stable condition, and here's hoping that the next 24 hours go smoothly. I'm currently sitting here in the Nursery Intensive Care Unit (NICU) watching the doctors take incredible care of my two angels. Ella ended up weighing 1552 grams (3 lbs 6 oz for the metricly deficient) and Emma was one half her size at 740 grams (1 lb 10 oz.) . Alarms are going off left and right here in the NICU for the girls. There's an army of people working here. The alarms are typical for premies as they are still learning how to use all of their organs. The babies are hooked up to a variety of machines to help them along. Every so often I get to hear the cries of either Ella or Emma as they clear out their lungs and learn how to breathe.
