Emma's ashes

Our road trip started today, with our very first stop at a funeral home in Ballard to pick up Emma. You can follow along via this special map that I'm updating as we travel. Both Ellen and I separately had a feeling that this was to be our official first stop of the trip, and that Emma's ashes were to join us for the entire journey. I asked Ellen about it earlier this morning and she had the same feeling too. Weird.... so now we have Emma's urn, and we plan on taking it cross country with us. Should be interesting... I have some special ideas for the urn too. I'll clue you in as they become a reality.

6 hours in the car today, with a quick lunch in Portland where we ate at a random deli called the Spicy Pickle. Sure enough, we walk in and the Beatles are playing over the restaurant stereo. Here we go again. Nothing else weird happened at lunch, other than we had to make a stop at the Church of Elvis. There is no actual inside to the church, it's simply a window in a random building in Chinatown.

After our lunch stop, we headed south til we reached Roseburg, Oregon. We are staying the night here, and tomorrow we plan on heading down to Sacramento.

So far Ella has been awesome in the car. She slept the entire trip; hopefully, she will sleep through the night too. We can only hope.
