Texas 81
Last night the three of us accompanied by my friend Jim, went down to the Santa Monica Pier to say good night to Emma. She was shinning brightly all day and it was now time for her to rest. The view of the sunset over the Santa Monica mountain was amazing and it caused all of us to cry. It was a memorable view. We haven't really found any answers yet, but I continue to have dreams that add to the drama. A few nights ago I had a very distinct dream where Emma showed herself to me 25 years from now. She was this gorgeous blond woman with a husband. Her future image is etched into my brain and it will be interesting to see if Ella grows up into that same woman. I also has a very distinct feeling about the word "Texas 81" and a weird reverse "L" shape. While I was researching this on Google at 5:30 in the morning, a friend of mine from Austin starting IM'ing me out of the blue. Emma is usually obvious to us, so this was a very clear sign she meant for us to travel to Austin, TX. Old Route 81 in Texas (now I-35) happens to be the exact same shape that I saw in my dream, and it travels directly through Austin. OK Emma, we'll hit Austin here very soon.
Now that we've seen the sunset, we sort of feel our trip has really begun. We've been in Santa Monica 2 days, and its about time to hit the road again. We haven't decided if we are going to follow Route 66 or just east. Route 66 through LA is really uneventful and it will almost certainly take forever. Also our next destination will play a big role in the decision to take the historic role. Phoenix is 6 hours away on I-10 and Flagstaff is about 7 hours via Route 66. We are leaning towards going straight to Phoenix, then heading up to Flagstaff the following day or 2 to follow Route 66 from Flagstaff.
More from the road later...
