First night on the desert

Last evening we drove through the first part of what will be a multi-day adventure through the desert. The mountains were spectacular. We were going to stop in Indio, CA for the night but fortunately, they were having a huge country music festival and everything booked. I say fortunately because we ended up in the sleepy town of Blythe, CA on the Arizona border. The added journey provided great desert views and actually a decent dinner opportunity at a mom and pop diner without the crowds. It was a peaceful evening.
After dinner we decided to take a quick dip in the pool. Even Ella got into the act. However, the water was a little too cold for her so we retreated to the bathtub so she could have the swimming like experience you see above. She LOVES the water. Could you believe how dorky I sounded in the video above? Sheesh!
Today we are off to Mesa, Arizona to spend some time with SafetyBitch. We will be getting off of the interstate to see some interesting Americana as well. Should be fun.
